On Wednesday 22nd October 2014, Sundar Pichai announced the launch of Inbox, a completely different type of inbox brought to you by the makers of Gmail. Inbox is designed to focus on what really matters, and works alongside Gmail to organise your schedule, important documents and more. Using Bundles, Highlights and Reminders, Inbox sorts through the information that you need, when you need it, so that you don’t have to. Inbox takes the chore out of scrolling through old emails to find event details, directions, tickets or receipts, and displays you with not only the email you need, but additional relevant information that can help you to act quicker or get where you need to be sooner.
Inbox is currently available to users by invite only, but you can find out more information and request an invite here.

Posted at 11:37h, 04 NovemberLooking forward to seeing this Claire! I wasn’t clear whether this is a mobile only product or also available on the desktop? Will it be part of the suite as standard?

Posted at 15:19h, 11 NovemberHi John
It will also be available on desktop, laptop, tablet etc.
At the moment it doesn’t seem to look like it will be integrated into the apps suite, but it will be open to all Gmail users so its up to the individual whether to use it or not. By the looks of things at the moment, they are only inviting people on the consumer version, but I’m sure we will see it continue to roll out gradually over the coming weeks / months.

Posted at 15:46h, 11 NovemberHi John,
If you have a consumer account I’ll be more than happy to give you an invite.
If you’d like to email Claire or myself with the email address you would like to try out the new Inbox feature and I’ll arrange this.
Thanks
Kevin
