How to edit the master of an imported theme in Google Slides: When creating presentations in Slides, you can import a theme from an existing presentation and make any updates to the master slides, which will allow you to save time rather than designing the slide layouts from scratch.
To begin, create a new Slides document as normal. You will be prompted to choose a theme from Google, or Import Theme. Click on the ‘Import Theme’ option, then click ‘OK’.
You will then have the option to select a pre-existing file from Drive, that either you have created or that has been shared with you. Click on the Slides file with the theme you want to import and hit ‘Select’.
You will then be prompted to confirm your choice. Click ‘Import Theme’ and your slides will be displayed with the same Master slides from the selected Slides document.
To make amendments to the Master Slides, go to ‘Slide’ in the menu bar and scroll down to ‘Edit master’.
A new window will open with the Master slides, and from here you can edit the design and layout as you would a normal slide, using the same tool bar and options to insert images, such as a logo, or add a shape.
Once you have made your changes, just exit the edit screen by clicking ‘x’ and your Slides will now all use the design from your edited master. Don’t forget to edit all the different slide layouts for a consistent look.
