19 Dec Christmas has come early… the latest Google Apps for Work updates
Google have kept up momentum on updates right through to the end of the year, and here is a recap of some of the latest Google Apps for Work updates to be released in December. Please note: Some of these updates are on Scheduled release into early January 2015.
Sharing Drive files as attachments in Gmail
Up until now, in Gmail you have had the option to insert a file as an attachment, or add a link to a file in Google Drive. Now, you can add a file from Drive as an attachment, meaning that the receiver can open the attachment or download it directly from within their email, instead of opening the Drive file as a link.
Docs, Sheets and Slides being added to Apps Launcher early January
Google Apps for Work are bringing Docs, Sheets and Slides to the Apps launcher, to make it even easier to launch when signed in to other Google products. Contact and Groups will be moved down to the ‘More’ screen to make room.
Add custom status messages in Google Hangouts
You can now add a custom status to Google Hangouts which will be visible to your contacts in Contacts view. To add a status message, you can access this via clicking on settings. You can also use an emoticon to describe what mood you’re in.
Google Apps now supporting all three major ODF file formats
Google have now launched support for importing .odt, .ods and .odp file types. Google have also added a few additional Office-friendly updates too.
