How to share Drive files in Google Hangouts chat: This feature can be really useful when on a Google Hangout and you are discussing a particular file or document. Using Google Hangouts chat, you can share a file from Google Drive with the group which people can access and view whilst still within the meeting.
In Google Hangouts, to share a file you will first need to open up chat, which you can do via the left hand toolbar and clicking on the top Chat icon.
This will open up the chat window on the right hand side of the Google Hangout. In the box where you would write your comment, you will see two icons on the bottom right hand corner – one for emoticons and one for Google Drive.
Select the Google Drive icon, and this will open up a new window, where you can search and select a Google Drive file to share with the participants in your Google Hangout.
Once you chose a file, a link including a preview of your file will appear in the group chat. Now, all your hangout participants can click on the link and open the file.
