28 May How to view Drive files in Gmail search
How to view Drive files in Gmail search: Using Labs, you can enable the functionality to not only search emails using the Gmail search bar, but also to search all Google Docs and Sites too in one place.
To enable the lab, head to the settings cog in your Gmail screen and select Settings.
When the Settings screen opens, select the Labs tab.
Scroll down to the Apps Search lab, and click Enable. Make sure you scroll to the bottom of the page and hit Save Changes before going back to your inbox.
Now, when you go back into Gmail and conduct a search, you will see both email and a list of Docs & Sites below that relate to your search term, as you can see below.
Why not try it for yourself?

Thanks for getting in touch! I can confirm that the Apps Search Lab no longer exists however Google are looking to implement this into their core services. This has already been released for consumers and is scheduled for late 2015-early 2016 for Google Apps customers. You can see more information on this link.
Thank you for your query,
