02 Jul Receive notification rules when changes are made in Google Sheets
Receive notification rules when changes are made in Google Sheets: Use notification rules to keep up to date when changes are made to a spreadsheet, or when a user submits a form and you receive a new result.
To set up notifications, open up your Google Sheets file. Here I’ve opened up the responses Sheet from a Google Form, as I want to receive a notification every time a new form is submitted.
To turn on notifications, the first step is to head to Tools on the toolbar, and select Notification rules… from the drop down menu.
A new window will open, with a number of options. First you can select why you want to receive a notification – either when any changes are made or when a user submits a form. Then you can choose to receive an email straight away or to be emailed a daily digest of any updates.
Click Save, and your new notification will be confirmed. You can edit or delete the notification, and can come back to this window at any time by visiting Tools > Notification rules… again.
The message will appear in your inbox like so.
When you open the message, you will have the option to view the changes made to the document. This way, you can easily keep track of what is happening in your spreadsheet, and you can flag any important responses or issues as they appear.
