26 Nov Google Apps Update : You can gain guest access to Hangouts video calls without a Google account
Ever wanted to add a customer to a Hangout but couldn’t because there not on a Google account? You’re in luck!
Google have made this feature even more useful with its brand new update to Google hangouts, removing the requirement that guests have to have a Google account in order to join a Hangout video call. Google feel it should be simple and easy to join a video call. Starting from this week you do not have to fill out forms or be in a Google account to access hangouts. The requirement that a guest has to have a Google account in order to join a hangout video call has been removed.
How does this work?
If you are in an important meeting and wish to include a guest at anytime, you do not have to worry. You simply have to follow the following steps:
- Using Google calendar invite your guest by providing them with the link to the video call.
- Select the link in event description and send to the guest.
- The guest will be asked to place their name into the following box
- You have the option to accept/deny the guests request to join the meeting.
Once the guest has sent their request, any participant from the hangout can then choose to decline or accept the invite as shown below. Any attendee from the domain organizing the video call can then allow the guest into the meeting.
Stay tuned for more tips and tricks, until next week.
