14 Jan Search quickly and easily across Google Docs, Sheets, and Slide
First thing in the morning, when you open your files on Google Drive, you will most likely have various types you are working on, for example, Docs, Sheets and Slides. This can be time consuming switching between Apps, especially when your time is precious or you come across that final deadline approaching and you need to get things done quickly.
Google understand your time is valuable and have made things easier. Starting this week, when you search from the search engine on either the Docs, Sheets, and Slides home screen page on the web, the results will retain files from all three of these Apps.
Lets look at this feature in action.
Open your App via the Google Waffle icon on your Google Drive.
Once you have opened your App, in this case, Google Docs, conduct a search by entering the name of the file you want to retrieve as shown below. As you can see the search engine will bring up files from all three Apps.
At the top of the results screen, you’ll see Top results, which will contain a mix of files, if relevant as shown below.
Just below that you’ll see Recent documents (or Recent spreadsheets, or Recent presentations, whichever is applicable), which will only contain files from the App you’re working in.
Stay tuned for more tips and tricks, until next week.
