17 Mar Navigate documents easily using the outline tool in Google Docs

When you have a document or file that is lengthy and you need to be able to navigate easily through it, you can do so with Google’s new outline tool feature in Google Docs. This new launch will save you time and allow you to find what you are looking for easily in Google Docs on the web and on Android.

Let’s take a look at this new feature.

Select Tools from the menu bar > Choose Document outline as shown below.

All headings will be laid out in the pane to the left of the screen, allowing you to select where you would like to navigate to without having to scroll down the file. You can change or add any headers at any time whenever you please. The layout of this new outline tool can be seen below.

As you can see I have created headings in my Doc which are clearly outlined in the pane at the left hand side of the screen as shown below.

In this case I would like to be navigated to ‘Summary of week 6’. I can therefore select this heading and the outline tool will automatically take me to this part of the document as shown below.

Stay tuned for more tips and tricks, until next week.
